What If There Was Instagram Throughout History?

There might be less rewritten history! Hugs, Barbara

Histagrams is the brainchild of Gusto NYC and Gavin Alaoen, two New York City based artists currently working for MTV Networks.

In a single topic tumblr named Histagrams, the duo imagine an alternate reality where Instagram is available throughout history. While not always historically accurate (e.g., Laocoön actually wanted to set fire to the horse and the moon photo was not from the Apollo 11 mission), the spirit of Instagram is instantly recognizable. They do well to mimic the type of photos shared as well as the hashtags and language used on the popular social network.

Hopefully the site continues to grow and they explore using actual Instagram filters to the images they select. For much more, visit Histagrams.com

Strong 6.4 magnitude earthquake hits eastern Indonesia

These poor people do not need more natural tragedies. This is so sad. Peace and love, Barbara

The Extinction Protocol

Indonesia Nov 30
December 1, 2013JAKARTA – A strong 6.4magnitude earthquake hit eastern Indonesia on Sunday but there was no tsunami alert, seismologists said. The quake struck at 10:24am local time (0124 GMT), 351 kilometers (217 miles) east-northeast of the East Timor capital Dili at a relatively shallow depth of 10 kilometers, the U.S. Geological Survey said. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not issue any alerts following the tremor in the remote region at the eastern end of the Indonesian archipelago between the islands of Timor and New Guinea. In an initial assessment, the USGS said there was a low likelihood of damage or casualties. Indonesia sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” where tectonic plates collide, causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity. A 6.1-magnitude quake that struck Aceh province on Sumatra Island in July killed at least 35 people and left thousands homeless. –Channel News Asia

(Hey) Blogsphere Fwiends..

Adding a new project. I am excited for you and wish you much luck. Don’t forget to visit. Hugs and peace, Barbara, the rebel

Archaic Sugar

Yeah I said “Fwiends,” puddy dat (smiling).

I miss it here, and all the people I interact with. Some of you keep in contact with me off here so you’ll know some of the deal but I want to share honestly with those who really read this blog. So a few days from now, I will post a continuation of this blog (what we’ll call the real update).

At that time, I hope those of you who stumble upon this post will come back to this one (the former at that time) and retrieve the password to read the update. Private post to come.

It may take a minute or two more, but I will so appreciate the hassle and feedback from those with whom I exchange consistent comments. I know mostly everyone else won’t be bothered, and that’s okay.

The next post will be a little bit more personal than my reposts…

Clara Ward – Princesse de Caraman-Chimay

She must have been a fantastic lady. Very interesting blog! Hugs, Barbara

FROM THE BYGONE

The story of Clara Ward (1873 – 1916) is poorly known today, but in the early 1890s she was the toast of the United States.

She came to the public’s attention in 1889 or early 1890 when it was announced that the distinguished Belgian visitor to the United States, Marie Joseph Anatole Pierre Alphonse de Riquet, Prince de Caraman-Chimay, a member of the Belgian Chamber of Deputies, had proposed marriage to the very young, very attractive daughter of a very wealthy family.

That her husband-to-be was more than twice her age, quite poor, and even, perhaps, not very handsome, seems to have been of minor consequence.

They were married on 19 May 1890, in fin-de-siècle Paris. Ward was now properly styled “Princesse de Caraman-Chimay”, but usually went by “Clara, Princess of Chimay”. Americans were ecstatic about their new princess.

Some time after the birth of their second child…
