Help Catch an Alleged Sex Predator

I hope he is arrested soon.

Crime & Justice

The FBI is crowdsourcing its search for an alleged sexual predator, known only as John Doe 27 (pictured below), and they’ve posted enhanced images from an incriminating video in the hopes that someone can identify the suspect or the setting in which the video was taken.

According to the FBI’s Endangered Child Alert Program (ECAP) web site:

Law enforcement officials are seeking information which will lead to the identification of an unknown individual known as John Doe 27. It is alleged that he may be involved with child exploitation and the sexual abuse of a minor. Images of this person were found on the Internet. John Doe 27 is described as a White male, likely between the ages of 40 and 50, with brown hair, graying sideburns, and a bald spot. He wears glasses and a ring on the ring finger of his right hand. A Poem Worth Reading

I am crying. This is a beauteous tribute to our unsung heroes.

Butterfly Sand

I didn’t write this poem, I don’t know who did.  A friend sent it to me. My Grandfather and my Father each fought in a world war. May we one day know world peace.

He was getting old and paunchy
And his hair was falling fast,
And he sat around the Legion,
Telling stories of the past.

Of a war that he once fought in
And the deeds that he had done,
In his exploits with his buddies;
They were heroes, every one.

And ‘tho sometimes to his neighbors
His tales became a joke,
All his buddies listened quietly
For they knew where of he spoke.

But we’ll hear his tales no longer,
For ol’ Joe has passed away,
And the world’s a little poorer
For a Veteran died today.

He won’t be mourned by many,
Just his children and his wife.
For he lived an ordinary,
Very quiet sort…

Philippine typhoon survivors don’t get enough aid

These people faced an earthquake 3 weeks ago. We have to get aid to them quickly or more people will start dying and disease will begin to take lives. With no clean drinking water, no food, little medical care, I think the situation is desperate

Dear Kitty. Some blog

This video is called Monster typhoon Haiyan hits Philippines.

By Peter Symonds:

A pittance in international aid for Philippine typhoon victims

13 November 2013

In the wake of super-typhoon Haiyan, which tore a path of destruction through the central Philippines last Friday, the UN has launched an appeal for $301 million to provide relief and assistance for those whose lives have been devastated. The fund, which is currently nowhere near its target, is woefully inadequate for the pressing needs at hand.

The UN itself estimates that 11 million people have been affected by Haiyan; meaning the fund will provide an average of less than $30 [a] person. According to the Philippine government, more than 2 million people need immediate food aid and at least 670,000 people have been displaced. The disaster’s full scale is still emerging as many areas have been cut off due to blocked…

Richard Cohen’s 10 Worst Moments, Counted Down

This is a strange man.

The Fifth Column

Mother Jones – Matt Connolly

Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen has come under fire again for making a bizarre claim in a column. His latest gaffe is bad—but is it the worst thing he’s ever written? Let’s count down Cohen’s 10 worst moments from decades of column writing to see which one takes the crown.

1 (tied). From Tuesday morning: Richard Cohen thinks hating interracial marriage is normal.

Today’s GOP is not racist, as Harry Belafonte alleged about the tea party, but it is deeply troubled — about the expansion of government, about immigration, about secularism, about the mainstreaming of what used to be the avant-garde. People with conventional views must repress a gag reflex when considering the mayor-elect of New York — a white man married to a black woman and with two biracial children. (Should I mention that Bill de Blasio’s wife, Chirlane McCray, used…

Renisha McBride – Autopsy And New Discoveries

People should be able to look for help without tasking their lives.

We Hold These Truths To Be Self-Evident

RenishaMcBrideRenisha McBride, 19, was shot to death on November 2, 2013 by a homeowner in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. According to an autopsy released on Monday, McBride was shot in the face.

Assistant Medical Examiner Kilak Kesha ruled Renisha’s death a homicide, and documented findings that

There was an entrance shotgun wound to the face, with no evidence of close-range discharge of a firearm noted on the skin surrounding this wound.  The wound tract passes through the soft tissue and bones of the face and entered the brain.  Associated with this injury were skull fractures and bleeding around the brain.  The would track was from front to back and right to left.  Multiple lead pellets and fragments or wad were recovered from the brain and retained.
