The Daily Beast reports that Maddy, also known as Juror B29, spoke with Lisa Bloom about her experience.  They have published an excerpt from Bloom’s just published Suspicion Nation.

Maddy3 Maddy – Juror B 29

Maddy revealed that she was fed up before the trial was over.  Being the only minority on the jury, she said that she was sequestered with five White women who didn’t understand her.  They demeaned, mocked and trivialized her.  She was ready to leave and return home saying, “If they had to put me in jail for going home, then put me in jail.”

The Suitcase

point gifA man died, when he realized it, he saw God coming close with a suitcase in his hand.

-God said: Alright son its time to go.

-surprised the man responded: Now? So soon? I had a lot of plans…

-but I am sorry but its time to go.

-What do you have in that suitcase?

-God answered: Your belongings.

– My belongings? you mean my things, my clothes, my money?

-God answered: Those things were not yours they belonged to the earth.

-Is  it my memories? the man asked.

-God answered: those never were yours they belonged to the circumstances.

-Is it my talents:

-God answered : those were never yours they belonged to the circumstances.

Is is my friends and family?

-God answered I’m sorry they were never yours they belonged to the path.

Is it my wife and children?

-God answered: I’m sorry they were never yours they belonged to  your heart.

Is it my body?

-God answered that was never yours it belonged to the dust.

Is it my soul?

-God answered: no that is mine.

Full of fear, the man took the suitcase from god and opened it just to find

out the suitcase was empty.

-With a tear coming down his cheek the man said: I never had anything???

-God answered: that is correct, every moment you lived were only yours.

Life is just a moment, a moment that belongs to you. For this reason enjoy

this time while you have it. Don’t let anything that you think you own stop

you from doing so.

-Live now.

-Live your life.

-Don’t forget to be happy, that is the only thing that matters.

-Material things and everything else that you fought for stay here.

-You can’t take anything.

Who knew I could be creative?

Beautiful mosaics

“The chief enemy of creativity is good sense.”  ― Pablo Picasso

I still continue to try my hand at mosaics.  Below are my last two works.

This one I call Nativity.  It is my idea of a Nativity scene and I love it.   I made it out pieces of a broken cookie jar and a broken mug.  It is 11.5 x 8 inches.

Nativity as I see it! Nativity as I see it!

“Creativity takes courage. ”  ― Henri Matisse

This one I named Butterflies and Flowers.   It is 24 x 20 inches.   I made it using different glass stones that I got at the 99 cent store.  I had originally named it Butterflies, but when I was done a friend came over and when he saw it he asked: Are those butterflies or flowers?

Fact Attack: Endangered Species No. 106 – The Kodkod

As always, just wonderful.

Kodkod

“Whatever befalls the earth, befalls the people of the earth. Man did not weave the web of life;  he is merely a strand in it”
Chief Seattle

Kodkod Found primarily in Chile and thinly in bordering parts of Argentina, with others located on the islands of Chiloé and Guaitecas, this elusive and endearing little cat is the smallest felid in the New World, and with the smallest known distribution. Known also as the guiña or Chilean cat, and roughly the size of an average domestic cat, the extremely rare kodkod is very similar in appearance to Geoffroy’s cat.

The kodkods’ diminutive size may have spared them the horror of being hunted for their fur, but, as fate would have it, they tend to get caught in traps laid for foxes, Kodkod ultimately causing the same sad death. Occasionally their pelts have been seen in markets, but it is not a…

READERS: Black History Fact of the Day – The 15th Amendment Turns 145 Years Old TODAY!

Well written

Chocolate Vent's avatarChocolate Vent

The 15th Amendment, granting African-American men the right to vote , was formally adopted into the U.S. Constitution on March 30, 1870 after the House of Representatives passed the 15th Amendment on February 25, 1869, by a vote of 144 to 44, and the Senate passed the 15th Amendment on February 26, 1869 , by a vote of 39 to 13. Passed by Congress the year before, the amendment reads: “the right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.”

President Ulysses S. Grant called the amendment “the most important event that has occurred since the nation came into life,” Grant urged whites not to interfere with the enforcement of the new provision, and reminded African Americans of their responsibilities as voters. News of the Fifteenth…
