It has been over two years since the release of Dr Esther Gitman’s book “When Courage Prevailed: The Rescue and Survival of Jews in the Independent State of Croatia 1941-1945” (see links to the book in the left margin of this blog website Home page).

Her research findings have confirmed that Croatia’s WWII Archbishop Aloysius (Alojzije) Stepinac was in fact a prolific and an utterly dedicated saviour of Jews during WWII days of the Holocaust and not the “Nazi collaborator” that the Yugoslav communist regime convicted him of after the war, serving him with a trial at which he had no right to a defense. It is in the latter context that Archbishop Aloysius Stepinac had been presented via the communist propaganda as a “symbol” of the Holocaust that occurred in Croatia. Despite that, the Catholic Church had not stood idle…

Cats Again Kill Critically Endangered Birds

Very good post

Ann Novek( Luure)--With the Sky as the Ceiling and the Heart Outdoors

Orange-bellied parrots are among the world’s most critically endangered birds, with fewer than 50 individuals still in existence in the forests of Australia. Although conservationists have been working tirelessly to boost their numbers through captive breeding programs, their progress was hindered recently by the taboo wanderings of one very naughty kitty.

According to wildlife officials, the unauthorized feline managed to breach the premises of a secured breeding center in Tasmania last month. Once inside, the bad cat then actually entered the parrots’ enclosure through a small hole and began to terrorize the extremely rare birds.

In the resulting panic, two parrots died — no small number considering just how few of these animals remain.

The bird-killing culprit may have remained a mystery if it weren’t for the cat’s poor planning. As it turns out, squeezing into the parrot’s enclosure was easier than getting out; staff members actually discovered the problem…

You come to us from another world

From beyond the stars and void of space.
Transcendent, Pure, of unimaginable beauty,
Bringing with you the essence of love.

You transform all who are touched by you.
Mundane concerns, troubles, and sorrows
dissolve in your presence, bringing joy
to ruler and ruled.

To peasant and king
You bewilder us with your grace.
All evils transform into goodness.
You are the master alchemist.

You light the fire of love in earth and sky

the Hunt for Truth

Today, I want to share how research provides a link between spiritual experiences and health.

According to research, spiritual experiences are associated with a decreased focus on the self. Prayer, meditation, and mindfulness to name a few, are healthy. Similar to good diet, exercise and rest, regular spiritual experiences contribute to overall health.

I previously explained spiritual experiences this way:

Spiritual experiences are associated with a decreased focus on the self. I’ll use this as a definition for a spiritual state of mind: a non-tangible state of mind that brings profound meaning into one’s life as one transcends oneself.

Use something else if you like — we can’t say spiritual is universally anything religious though. Spiritual is as much a secular term as it is a religious term.

Neurotheology, also known as spiritual neuroscience, attempts to explain religious experience and behavior in neuroscientific terms. By understanding how the brain works during certain…

)°( Are you a Human Angel?

From “We are Human Angels”, the book

If since childhood you have wanted to change the world and have not stopped believing… If you have always dreamed of relieving the sorrows of all living beings… If you feel that you have a special talent to help others… If you have an out of the ordinary sensitivity… If you have overcome difficult trials in your life… If you think that despite everything, life should be lived with joy… If, while always trying to give meaning to your suffering, you believe that there must be a way to stop yours and others suffering… If in your heart there is no room for hatred and resentment… If you always try to change evil into good and darkness into light… If you always follow your heart even when it seems to be the hardest thing to do… If you have always had a vision of heaven on earth and would like to spread it throughout the world… If you have the ability to read people and know what is hidden within their hearts… If you silently bless everyone you encounter in your life… If you, from the very beginning, have always felt a sense of not belonging to this world… If you have never been able to relate yourself with any group of people, but you have always had a deep desire to connect yourself with your Souls’ family here on earth… If the search for truth is your greatest passion… If you live with honesty even when it hurts… If you believe in the healing power of Love… If you still have the same dreams you had when you were a pure-hearted child… If you feel you were born for a greater purpose and would like to express it…

you are a Human Angel and you are just trying to remember.

Human angels

Some one sent me information about this book. I thought that it was interesting. I don’t know whether it is real, or possible or not. The profile of a human angel did strike me because it has many of my characteristics.  We will never be sure and I realize some will scoff. That’s ok. My shoulders are wide. I did have a spiritual teacher thirty years ago that told me the sixties happened because angels wanted to come to earth. God values humans over even the angels. When they got here, it was much harder to walk this journey that they had expected. He felt that the drug use back then and the number of OD’s / suicides were angels who couldn’t handle the life on this plane of existence. Again I don’t know what is true but my gut tells me that it is possible.  At the time, I was shocked because I didn’t think any sentient being would opt for this life over being in the presence of Divinity and singing praises, if that is what happens. The Bible and the Tanach teach that angels walk among us. So this is for each of us to decide on our own. I did find the book on Kindle for $4.99 if you are interested. I figured five dollars was worth the read. I am sure libraries carry or can get you the book.

The Pledge of Allegiance is a treasure I found to remind us that while we owe our allegiance to our countries, the real allegiance goes to Mother Earth. One Earth, one world, one people and we will carry the consequences of what we do to heal or to destroy Mother Earth in our souls for eternity. So whether or not there are human angels, there is one planet, with one people and one love. We can destroy ourselves or we can heal our home and ensure life for many generations to come.

Are we human angels?

Are we human angels?

Wide Awake But Dreaming

My celebration dinner was good, except there was no wine.  I’ll remedy that tonight when I stop off at the wine and spirits shop on the way home–there’s one right across the street from one of the government offices, what does that tell you?–and continue the celebration here.

Except . . . I hope I’m not as bored as I was last night.  You go a long stretch writing and then suddenly–Boom!  There’s nothing to do.  You quickly find yourself wondering if there is anything you can do that isn’t writing related–and in my case, usually not.

"I shouldn't think about writing, and I'm not gonna write. What should I do? Get my nails done? They're done. Wait, I could write about my characters “I shouldn’t think about writing, and I’m not gonna write. What should I do? Get my nails done? They’re done. Wait, I could write about my characters getting their nails done–no, no writing!”

Talk about a pain in the ass.  When most of your activities consist of the things you…
