Neighborhood watch shooter’s conviction overturned

Here we go with another neighborhood watch tragedy. It seems this is not a viable answer. Premeditation enters in here.

Friday 23 August was the European Day of Remembrance of victims of totalitarian regimes/ Nazism and Communism.
Millions were killed during World War II and more suffered under totalitarian regimes for decades after the war ended. To commemorate these victims and to make sure that we build our future while remembering our past, 23 August is the Europe-wide day of remembrance of the victims of all totalitarian and authoritarian regimes…

Today is a day to reflect upon and draw lessons from the most devastating chapters of European history. Preserving the memory of the crimes committed by totalitarian and authoritarian regimes is the only way to show younger generations that democracy and fundamental rights are not a given, but the result of a painful history. Keeping the memory alive is a way to ensure that Europe’s people can never be divided again. Totalitarianism has no place in Europe”, said…

We Must Finish Fulfilling Dr. KIng’s Dream

Fifty years after Dr. King spoke of his dream. We haven't been able to fulfill everything but we have President Barak Obama. The first man of color to lead the Western Word.

Fifty years after Dr. King spoke of his dream. We haven’t been able to fulfill everything but we have President Barak Obama. The first man of color to lead the Western Word.

We need to keep working for the dream. Dr. King was a great man in my eyes and I am a white woman. Color is nothing, ethics and morals are the ideals worth discussing.

The Republican ‘War On Women’ – The Yeah….He Really Did Say That Edition – ‘Fox News expert: ‘Women have the breasts’ so health care should cost more than men’

Don’t let sexist men and women run your life or make your choices.

This is what passes as an ‘expert’ on FOX and remember this is watched and worshiped by millions of Republican Conservatives.

‘A Fox News medical expert on Tuesday argued that President Barack Obama’s administration was wrong to force gender equality for health insurance rates because men “only have the prostate,” while women “have the breasts, they have the ovaries.”

“Look, it’s not bias, I’m not saying this as a man,” Fox News Medical A-Team contributor Dr. David Samadi told the hosts of Fox & Friends. “They go through a lot of preventive screenings, they give birth, they have the whole mammogram, the Pap smear. Guys, we don’t like to go to doctors, right? Seventy percent of health care decisions are made by women. In my own practice, I see it’s the women who bring the guys, who say, go get screened.”

“Yeah, but shouldn’t that earn us a discount?”…

The Big Heart

War destroys the childhoods of children.

War destroys the childhoods of children.

” Big heart,
wide as a watermelon,
but wise as birth,
there is so much abundance
in the people I have
Max, Lois, Joe, Louise,
Joan, Marie, Dawn, Arlene,
Father Dunne,
and all in their short lives
give to me repeatedly,
in the way the sea
places its many fingers on the shore,
again and again
and they know me,
they help me unravel,
they listen  with ears made of conch shells,
they speak back with the wind of the best region.
They are my staff.
They comfort me.

They hear how
the artery of my soul has been severed
and soul is spurting out upon them,
bleeding on them,
messing up their clothes,
dirtying their shoes
And God is filling me.
though there are times of doubt
as hollow as the Grand Canyon,
still God filling me
He is giving me the thoughts of dogs,
the spider in its intricate web,
the sun
in all its amazement,
and a slain ram
that is the glory,
the mystery of great cost,
and my heart,
which is very big,
I promise it is very large,
a monster of sorts,
takes it all in—–
as in comes he fury of love.”

TODAY……The March Turns 50

Watch the fifty year anniversary of Dr.King famous speech.

Welp, TODAY marks 50 years since Martin Luther King Jr.’s life changing speech on Washington and I wish that I COULD INDEED BE THERE! This weekend was the pre – celebration and boy did I cry and was incredibly blessed with all the wonderful festivities in Washington, D.C. I am grateful that my father introduced political history to me as young as 8 years old – it has changed my life.

Still, the country remains deeply divided over how much progress there has been toward racial equality in the half-century since the march. According to a recent Pew Research Center poll, fewer than half of Americans believe “substantial” progress has been made toward King’s dream over the last 50 years. Among blacks, fewer than one-in-three say the same.
