She was barely 21 years old when she left her three-year-old son in the care of others at the bomb shelter in Vukovar, took a rifle into her hands and went shoulder to shoulder to the front-line with her male veterans, the heroes of Croatia’s Homeland War, to defend the city from Serb aggression, beastly destruction of anyone non-Serb, of their homes, infrastructure, community and religious buildings…Violeta Antolic – Vicky defended Vukovar’s Sajmiste to the last minute, until ethnically cleansed and devastated Vukovar fell into Serb occupation (November 1991), only to end up in a Serb concentration camp – as a courageous defender she was the only woman in HOS (1991 Croatian Defence Forces arm of Croatian Party of Rights made up of volunteers from Croatia and abroad) fighting the enemy on equally strong and determined love for…

The 161 Bankers Who Run the World

Excellent post.

stuartbramhall's avatarThe Most Revolutionary Act

In following video, Peter Phillips from Project Censored lays out exactly how the richest one-thousandth of 1% maintain iron control over all world governments.

He cites a study Project Censored published in their Top 25 Censored Stories of 2012-2013 edition of the world’s most “integrated”* corporations and those with the largest financial asset concentration.

Unsurprisingly, there’s considerable overlap between the two groups.

The 161 board members of the top 13 companies control $28 trillion of wealth. They also help the 1% hide another $30 trillion offshore so it can’t be taxed.

They’re 88% white (and nearly all male) and 63% come from the US or Europe.

They work with secret (and not so secret) groups, such as the Council on Foreign Relations, the Trilateral Commission, the Bilderberg Group, the Bohemian Grove, the World Economic Forum, the G7, the G20, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank to ensure that…

The Mystery of the Lily Seeds

Beautiful and full of spirit. Hugs, Barbara

Summer Lilies

They say deer eat these mine are all still healthy

Summers lilies of pumpkin gold

waving softly in the wind

The black seeds perched

precariously at the center of every leaf.

I wonder-which wisp of wind

will scatter seeds and where will they land?

Will they hang on drying slowly

until fall finally wilts the plant?

The fuzzy stamens, tempting new life-

why do the seeds form down the branch,

when the stamens and ovulates

rest within the velvety soft flower?

Each tiny gift nature has given

develops its own ways,

keeps its mystical secrets,

reminds us that every living thing.

is special, unique, magical.

Look at a daisy, a lily, a daffodil,

every one with its own way to reproduce,

Life itself holds infinite recipes.

Every flower shares it beauty,

to observe and enjoy is a gift

free and simple, there for the taking.

The finest things in life ARE free!

At the end of the day …. Feet, hair and eyes!!

End1

~~August 1, 2014~~

At the end of the day … that persistent cliche phrase that we so frequently repeat. “At the end of the” …. it’s time to do our inventory of the day that we just lived. What did we do?

Did I do my best? Did I say my piece? Was I courageous or afraid, assertive or shy? Did I tell the ones I care about how important they are to me? Did I show it? Did I accomplish my goals? Did I really push myself?

Did I?

“At the end of the day, did I laugh and dance enough
Did I tell my friends, how much they really mean to me
At the end of the day, did I really push myself
Or was I too afraid to give my heart away, at the end of the day …. “

Two women in love
They say that we are sinners,
We are the evil.

Love is love! Do they obey
The Law those who despise us?

I may have to go back to visit soon. The years have left me with a bushel of wonderful memories. Hugs, Barbara

The first SIX photos are from the day the sun was playing tag with the clouds when I was at Glen Falls, so there are some images where the highlights I know are overexposed. I have done my best to tone everything down, to get everything looking as I saw it. My knowledge of working with Adobe PS has a long ways to go yet. I am still very much in the learning process with this editing program.

Managing Stress: Create calm, at work and in your personal life

Very relevant and well written post. Keep it up!

From http://www.mahederetena.com

Many of us experience stress in life, whether this is in the short term from one-off projects, or long-term stress from a high-pressure career.

Not only can this be profoundly unpleasant, it can seriously affect our health and our work. However, it is possible to manage stress, if you use the right tools and techniques.

 From http://georgianbaymt.blogspot.co.nz

What is Stress?

A widely accepted definition of stress, attributed to psychologist and professor Richard Lazarus, is, “a condition or feeling experienced when a person perceives that demands exceed the personal and social resources the individual is able to mobilize.”

This means that we experience stress if we believe that we don’t have the time, resources, or knowledge to handle a situation. In short, we experience stress when we feel “out of control.”

This also means that different people handle stress differently, in different situations: you’ll handle stress better if…
