This week, Sue’s Word a Week Challenge is Pose, and she’s posted some wonderful pics from her trip to Africa.

Here are a few favourite subjects that have unwittingly posed for my camera.

The Lion with its huge mane and majestic appearance, has to be the indisputable King of Beasts.

The gorgeous Cheetah can run faster than any other land animal, and has the ability to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just three seconds. This one was just relaxing at the side of the road as we stopped to admire her.

The exotic Toucan is famous for its brightly coloured bill. It always makes me smile to see nature’s proudest and most impressive schnoz which is about 30- 40% of its total body area. Aren’t you glad that your nose isn’t that huge? 🙂

Black SF Cop Claims Racial Discrimination After Traffic Stop | NBC Bay Area

The story is troubling. He must have told them he was an officer and they still arrested him. Revenge? Vengeance? There is a lot we don’t know

SF Cop Claims Racial Discrimination After Traffic StopSAN FRANCISCO (AP) – A San Francisco police officer has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the city, saying he was racially profiled and wrongly arrested by several colleagues who didn’t recognize him.

Lorenzo Adamson, a 15-year police veteran, says he was stopped in his car on May 30 for not having a license plate.

Officer Brian Stansbury immediately asked Adamson if he was on probation or parole, a question that made Adamson believe he was being racially profiled, according to the suit filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Oakland.

Adamson is African American and Stansbury is white.

The suit alleges that officers inexplicably jumped onto Adamson’s back and tried to choke him before tackling him to the ground. Adamson was charged with resisting arrest and vehicle code violations. The charges were dropped.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Adamson was on disability leave for a back injury…

From [HERE] The US Supreme Court will not hear a case regarding racial discrimination in home sales and rentals after the matter was settled out of court on Wednesday. Originally scheduled for oral argument December 4, the case of Mount Holly v. Mt. Holly Gardens Citizens in Action, Inc. presented the issue of whether disparate impact claims are cognizable under the Fair Housing Act. The Fair Housing Act [text] makes it unlawful “[t]o refuse to sell or rent after the making of a bona fide offer … or otherwise make unavailable or deny, a dwelling to any person because of race, color, religion, sex, familial status, or national origin.” Petitioners sought to redevelop a blighted housing development that was disproportionately occupied by low and moderate income non-white people. The redevelopment sought to replace the blighted housing with new market rate housing which was unaffordable to the current residents…

Borowitz Report

Moments after President Obama said he would allow insurers to continue health plans that were to be cancelled under the Affordable Care Act, leading Republicans blasted the President for agreeing with an idea that they had supported.

“It’s true that we’ve been strongly in favor of Americans being allowed to keep their existing plans,” said House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio). “But now that the President is for it, we’re convinced that it’s a horrible idea.”

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Virginia) went further in ripping the President, calling Mr. Obama’s tactic of adopting ideas proposed by him and fellow Republicans “beneath contempt.”

“The President should be aware that any future agreeing with us will be seen for what it is: a hostile act,” he said.

Minutes later, White House spokesman Jay Carney helmed a hastily called press conference, hoping to stem the quickly escalating coöperation scandal.

“The President…
