Our Planet’s Other Residents

Some times you just can't help realizing the Universe has a sense of humor
This roo just finished an arguement with another roo.

A beautiful group of Giraffe

We are in charge of taking care of this planet. We aren’t the only residents here. We have a plethora of wild animals that need us to protect them and keep their homelands safe. No poaching, no collecting ivory, or cartilage, no trophies stuffed and hung on walls. We are to share this beautiful world with the wild animals. We also need to respect them and give them our love. Killing them for profit or gain is immoral. Now I understand that means something to me and not to the poachers and the rich hunters who care about nothing except themselves and what they want.

There are many organizations such as World WIldlife Foundation who are working hard to save our treasure trove of magnificent animals. But we need to all care and not turn away. There was a couple in the state I live in and they had a mini zoo and people paid to see the animals. I understand the excitement of seeing them, but they are not pets and can’t be treated as such. In my state, the husband found out he had a few weeks to live. So, he opened all the cages and let the animals out. He wanted them to be able to find food.  They were wild animals and showed up in yards, stores and most of them were shot because they couldn’t be caught. The police weren’t trained to catch tigers, bears and alligators.
So don’t own wild animals, if you live in countries where there are elephants, giraffes, tigers and zebras, notify the police and don’t let us lose any other wild animals. Our zoos perform a great service. We have a hospital here at our zoo and they take good care of the animals. Do you remember seeing your first wild animal. They also work to assist with the mating of endangered species. It is exciting to see the babies and I get a thrill when it happens. They are a wonderful gift we were given during creation, however you see it.

Worth Fighting For

944551_529753340425529_1022251361_nFighting for the world stops a lot of problems that we deal with every day. When we are just looking at our countries or even our communities, the scope to too narrow.  What one country does for its people may be fantastic and yet for their neighbors in a neighboring country, it may cause many trials and tribulations. This is why it is important to think of Mother Earth as what she is; a cohesive planet rotating around the sun like the other planets are doing.

We take that simple knowledge which has worked very well for millions  of years and we have divided Mother Earth. This piece goes to America. This part is Russia, this is Syria. Here is Germany, and Greenland is over here. No not there that is Iceland. Iceland belongs to us…no it is its own country. So as the millenniums and the centuries have passed we have divided and put together parts of Mother Earth over and over. Many great rulers have come and gone. They have done much to destroy Mother Earth with divisions and wars and slavery and jealousy and greed.

There is a flag flying over every inch of our planet and we watch our boundaries closely. Some will never get in and some will never leave. Our planet has a big job. It is what we stand on. It gives us a variety of fuels, and gem stones. Because we aren’t taking care of Mother Earth, there is much harsher weather coming. There are tornadoes, cyclones, hurricanes, blizzards, sandstorms. Is she trying to tell us something? I know we all couldn’t even agree on that. But remember, we human beings are responsible for this planet. She will take care of us if we take care of her. So when you look at a world globe, remember the flags are not the most important part. The most important part is that we have this beautiful planet to use, to enjoy and to love. Don’t forget to do that and Planet Earth will be here rotating on her axis for a very long time.

If you want to find beauty and peace, close your eyes and spin around. Open your eyes and you will find it everywhere. Once you find it all around you, then look inside and you will find the beauty of your soul, composed of pure white light. If you don’t really want to find beauty, then you will find what is dark and ugly. I, for me and my life choose the beauty. And I rejoice in the choice every day. Even on the bad ones because beauty is just around the corner.

Real Abundance

The Sabbath of Mutual Respect

Marge Piercy
In the natural year come two thanksgivings,
the harvest of summer and the harvest of fall,
two times when we eat and drink and remember our dead
under the golden basin of the moon of plenty.

Abundance, Habondia, food for the winter,
too much now and survival later. After
the plant bears, it dies into seed.
The blowing grasses nourish us, wheat
and corn and rye, millet and rice, oat
and barley and buckwheat, all the serviceable
grasses of the pasture that the cow grazes,
the lamb, the hourse, the goat, the grasses
that quicken into meat and cheese and milk,
the humble necessary mute vegetable bees,
the armies of the grasses waving their
golden banners of ripe seed
The sensual
round fruit that gleams with the sun
stored in its sweetness
The succulent
ephemera of the summer garden, bloodwarm
tomatoes, tender small squash, crisp
beams, the milky corn, the red peppers
exploding like cherry bombs in the mouth

We praise abundance by eating of it,
reveling in choice on a table set with roses
and lilies and phlox, zucchini and lettuce
and eggplant before the long winter
of root crops.
Fertility and choice:
every row dug in spring means weeks
of labor. Plant too much and the seedlings
choke in weeds as the warm rain soaks them.
The goddess of abundance Habondia is also
the spirit of labor and choice.
In another
life, dear sister, I too would bear six fat
children. In another life, my sister, I too
would love another woman and raise our child
together as if that pushed from both our wombs.
In another life, sister, I too would dwell
solitary and splendid as a lighthouse on the rocks
or be born to mate for life like the faithful goose.
Praise all our choices. Praise any woman
who chooses, and make safe her choice.

Habondia, Artemis, Cybele, Demeter, Ishtar,
Aphrodite, Au Set, Hecate, Themis, Lilith,
Thea, Gaia, Bridgit, The Great Grandmother of Us
All, Yemanja, Cerridwen, Freya, Corn Maiden,
Mawu, Amaterasu, Maires, Nut, Spider-Woman,
Neith, Au Zit, Hathor, Inanna, Shin Moo,
Diti, Arinna, Anath, Tiamat, Astoreth:
the names flesh out our histories, our choices,
our passions and what we will never embody
but pass by with respect. When I consecrate
my body in the temple of our history,
when I pledge myself to remain empty
and clear for the voices coming through
I do not choose for you and lessen your choice.

Habondia, the real abundance, is the power
to say yes and to say no, to open
and not to be taken by force or law
or fear or poverty or hunger.
To bear childern or not to bear by choice
is holy. To bear children unwanted
is to be used like a public sewer.
To be sterilized unchosen is to have
your heart cut out. To love women
is holy and holy is the free love of men
and precious to live taking whichever comes
an precisious to live unmated as a peachtree.

Praise the lives you did not choose
They will heal you, tell your story, fight
for you. You eat the bread of their labor.
You drink the wine of their joy. I tell you
after I went under the surgeon’s knife
for the laparoscopy I felt like a trumpet
an Amazon was blowing sonorous charges on.
Then my womb learned to open on the full
moon without pain and my pleasure deepened
till my body shuddered like troubled water.
When my friend gave birth I held her in joy
as the child’s head thrust from her vagina
like the sun rising at dawn wet and red.

Praise our choices, sisters, for each doorway
open to us was taken by squads of fighting
women who paid years of trouble and struggle,
who paid their wombs, their sleep, their lives
that we might walk through these gates upright.
Doorways are sacred to women for we
are the doorways of life and we must choose
what comes in and what goes out. Freedom
is our real abundance.

The Source of Joy

Experience love

Experience love

” No one knows what makes the soul wake
up so happy! Maybe a dawn breeze has

blown the veil from the face of God.
A thousand new moons appear. Roses

open laughting. Hearts become perfect
rubies like those from Badakshan. The

body turns entirely spirit. Leaves
become branches in this wind. Why is

it now so easy to surrender, even for
those already surrendered? There’s no

answer to any of this. No one knows the source of joy. A poet breathes
into a reed flute, and the tip of every hair makes music. Shams sails

clown clods of dirt from the roof, and we take jobs as doorkeepers for him.

God’s Children Include Women

Women can not be equal without legally being equal.

Women can not be equal without legally being equal.

Our world is living within a horrible hangover. In most religious communities there is something leftover from the past. It is the subordination and subjugation of women. We are striving to live in a world very different from that of our ancestors. Now this has been a cultural earthquake. Many people from different cultures are grasping to hold on, to hold on to their version of the past.  They want the past to remain immovable.  There are people who are even coerced into sexism.

The Vatican has tried to do this with Catholic nuns. American Catholic bishops consult with women to try to make them not use contraceptions. Without adequate contraceptives the size of families becomes too large to give each child the education they need to be productive members of our world.

In Israel, some state-supported Orthodox people have used physical violence. Groups of Jewish women have been praying as a group, chanting and wearing prayer shawls at the Western Wall. Jewish traditions see the Wall as the refuge of Shechinah, the Feminine Indwelling Immanent aspect of God, after the destruction of the nearby Temple.

This war on women

This war on women

We are moving into a new world, given us by God. Women and men are learning the difficult practice of dancing in God’s earthquake. Men and women need to resist the subjugation of women. Women who have tried to pray at the Western Wall are being mishandled and forced to leave the Wall because it is holy and women have no right to pray there.

In other countries, women are still participating in genital mutilation. Female midwives with the cooperation of mothers, will perform a clitorectomy and cut out the clitoris. This makes sure the child will never enjoy sex when she grows up. In some countries, the vagina is sown up to prevent her from having sex with a different man while her husband is away on business. A girl who has not had this done will not be able to marry. No one will want her. These procedures are done without anesthesia or pain medication.  These procedures make child birth more dangerous. I don’t know about everyone else but this makes me want to throw up.

Women are equal and deserve to receive equal pay for equal work. They deserve equal recognition for their work. They also deserve promotions when their work equals that of a male co-worker.

Two thirds of females in the world are illiterate.

Two thirds of females in the world are illiterate.

The majority of women in the world are considered so insignificant that it is felt they are not worth educating. They stay at home while brothers go off to schools to learn to do math and to read. This is why Oprah’s schools for girls are so important. Knowing someone believes in them helps them to believe in themselves. They know, when they are grown up they will be able to get a job in a city and save money to help their families.

God did not make a mistake when he created Eve, if you accept the story. Eve was not a secondary creation.  I think that if there was a serpent and he talked Eve into eating the forbidden fruit, then she made a choice. Adam also made a choice. When she offered the apple to Adam, he could have said no. He was responsible for his choice not to say no. Eve was not at fault. Women don’t have to carry that guilt. There is also a legend in Judiasm that Lillith was created to be Adam’s partner and she lived with him in equality. Adam complained to God and he got Eve instead.

Whatever you believe, women are equal. All human beings are equal. Where inequality remains, we will squelch it and make sure everyone is equal. Teach your daughters to be confident in themselves and your sons to respect women.

The Blessing of Chanting

Buddha found the benefit of chanting

Buddha found the benefit of chanting

Chanting is an esoteric musical energy. It had been used by monks, shamans, and singers in remote places on the earth and in music schools.

Chanting is the music of the cosmic spheres. It is the music of our conscious mind. It is a tool used everywhere to heal bodies, to quiet their minds, and to bring the sacred into the inner landscape.

Chant unites us and bring people together in thought, intention, knowledge, and love.

Chant is repetitive song but so much more. It is a way to integrate breath, heartbeat, emotion and purpose. Chant reaches across spiritual paths, lowers heartbeat and vibrates throughout our bodies. It balances brainwaves and bring the spiritual together.

There is spirit in sound, in music and in chanting. Great music resonates throughout our world and if we allow ourselves to become part of us, we benefit when we allow it to enchant our lives. It can reduce stress and connect us to the Divine. It also helps to bring peace to the world.

Ladies and Gentlemen, May I Introduce

Each Sunday, I look and listen to these children and I have come to realize that we are being gifted by many who will lift our souls. I think it is a solid assumption that the children are being born with souls filled with math, physics, research, and space. There may even be a politician, a writer, a painter.  Don’t let what is happening in our world today, to make you fearful for the future. The voices and minds coming up behind us are strong and pure. Our job is to protect them from the dirtiness of this world. We must not let them be traumatized. Our hope is the future.

The Job of Creating

Some days you can create anything, everything. Some days there is nothing inside that lets you grapple with the sparks within to create. To create one must also be authentic. Life requires a kind of existential courage. So the creative spark, the authenticity of our lives and courage, must mingle together for the production of that creative essence.

For many of us, to produce the song, the novel, the painting, comes after a conscious search for our personal truth. The search isn’t going to be easy or smooth, but it will take you to your authentic self, if you never give up. It is a search worth everything it costs you.

When being authentic becomes a priority to you, it will live in your thoughts, in your writing, in your focus on the light which surrounds you. When you make a commitment to live authentically it is a challenge and a gift. Without it, your creativity slowly disintegrates and you have ash inside.

Authenticity is a spiritual path, a practical act, and an imperfect quest. The quest can be gripping, exciting, exhilarating and frightening. Authenticity can be elusive, yet necessary for any creative person.

” The dream is always running ahead. To catch up, to live for a moment in unison with it, that is the miracle.” —–Anais Nin

Meaning is another aspect to being creative. Meaning vibrates within us, it means something so we can accomplish authenticity. Artists know that a meaningful and authentic life is necessary and they must choose it. Then they can create.
