I’ve got a point today along with the inspiring Sunday music.

I read (March 29 actually):

“Researchers used brain scans to analyze the thought process of people with ‘high justice sensitivity’. By using a functional magnetic resonance (fMRI) brain scanning device, they studied the brain activity as the subjects watched videos showing behavior that was morally good or bad like seeing a person put money in the beggar’s cup or kick the beggar’s cup away. They were asked how much they would blame or praise the person in the video and to complete  questionnaires that assessed cognitive and emotional empathy and their justice sensitivity.

Those who scored high on the justice sensitivity assigned significantly more blame when asked to evaluate scenes of harm and also praised more the act of an helping person. But it was the brain scans that surprised the scientists.

HEY!  I’M TALK’N HERE!

Cute-Chipmunk

Several days ago I was out for a stroll.  As I walked down this beautiful well treed street I became aware of a rather discordant noise.  Somebody was screaming at somebody.  As I got underneath this particularly verdant tree I discovered party one.  Now I don’t know who or what had annoyed this individual but he or she was thoroughly pissed off!

I should probably point out that the individual in question was a chipmunk.  He was literally screeching!  For sake of brevity I’m going use a male pronoun because I hate flipping back and forth.  Now this individual had one look at me and stopped.  So we had a little eye contact and a few seconds of “who the hell are you?”.  And then he started screaming at me.  But it was different.  It wasn’t as loud and it was of shorter duration.  It was still incredibly high-pitched.  So…

Easy Parenting Part I

Jackie Saulmon Ramirez's avatarParent Rap

Honestly, some of those parenting methods need a PhD to explain how it is supposed to work!

By Jackie Saulmon Ramirez | September 17, 2014

Mandated or not, parenting is not an easy job; parenting takes a lot of thought, planning and practice.

A new member to the Parents Anonymous Online Groups once asked me to give her a list of Dos and DON’Ts so she could learn all there was to know about being a good parent. *sigh* She was mandated to be there; I could tell because she did not seem too happy and was in a big hurry. This mom certainly had a lot on her plate with a lot to think about and learn.

Parents need to care for their health because it indirectly affects their children.

Mandated parents are awesome, in my book, because they are sometimes the ones who make such a remarkable turnaround…

Inside & Out: The Traditional Swiss Chalet~

cindy knoke's avatarCindy Knoke

DSC09384
The mountain regions of Switzerland are covered with thousands of old chalets, making for incredible scenery in the already magnificent alpine landscape. Some of the restored old chalets in Zermatt’s Old Town are over 300 years old. Many are being used today as apartments or shops.
DSC09593
These buildings in the Valais region are made of larch wood, with stone roofs, and were originally farm dwellings. They were two-story buildings where the farm animals lived on the bottom floor, protected from the cold climate and providing heat for the second floor.
DSC09812
Many farms in the Valais countryside are still working operations.
DSC09373
The newer chalets are pure charm, and although I have been to Switzerland several times, I have never stayed in a traditional chalet. This trip I intended to remedy this deficit. This was our hotel in Zermatt, the Belle Vista.

Here are some other beautiful chalets.

I Miss You My Friends

I miss you my friends

once there…ubiquitous

now gone

barely existent

It is not that I don’t want to see you

Life has a way of getting in the way

How I long for the comfort of knowing you are there for me

as much as I long to give you the comfort that my heart desires

I feel your pain like its my own

and I want to take it away

I want to make you feel better

feel happy

feel love

I miss you my friends

but I’ll be back soon

as soon as I unpack and tend to the humans I see in the flesh

the ones who missed me while I was gone

the ones who need so much right now

I miss you my friends

I knew that my schedule would change

but I will find a way to make it all work

because you…
