Welcome to 2022 and Beyond!

I am the Idealisticrebel or Barbara. I have been on a long hiatus due to health issues and a move down South. I am back now and eager to begin blogging. In addition to the subjects I have blogged about before, Peace, Woman’s Issues, Creativity and Spirituality, I am going to be blogging about the war.

Now I do live in the South on the banks of the French Broad River. The river is my friend and the friend, the ole man river greets me every morning and sparkles like diamonds as the sun dances across its surface. We have a little cold in winter but we seldom have snow and I do not like snow. When we do have snow, it is usually melted the next morning.

I raise orchids these days and it is challenging and fun. I continue to take photographs. I don’t think I will stop. It is the passion of my life. I feel as if I really see life only through a lens. I am gathering the tools together to make bread. I am going to begin to make Artisan breads and I am excited to take this on.

I have nine grandchildren. The oldest is 28 and is engaged. Three are down with sports injuries. Two are basketball players and one is hoping for a scholarship to college. They both tore their ACL’s. My youngest granddaughter is a gymnast and tore her meniscus. She had surgery this morning and is in a lot of pain. Seven of them are driving. The youngest wants to play baseball. One is a little scientist. My oldest granddaughter is in college to be a teacher.. Another is in college to be…determined at a later date. The oldest grandson is a brilliant musician and plays in a band. In the mix, I have a set of twins. A set of boys. They go rock climbing with their dad.

I have saved the best for last. I live surrounded by mountains. Sometimes I walk outside and it just takes my breath away. I live in a picture postcard. No matter the season or the weather those strong steadfast mountains are there pulling the corners of my mouth up.

I invite old readers, new readers, those who agree and those who disagree with me to join the conversation! I just ask for courteous remarks and civil language.

Namaste

Another safe landing zone I see. I say this again, why can’t we all just get along. I hope you don’t mind my opinions and observations.

    • We need to turn our backs on violence, hating, judgement and that will be a good start. My paternal grandmother used to say ” If you can’t say anything nice, say nothing at all.” Hugs, Barbara

      • racerrodig says:

Can’t agree more, but I do have a tendency to speak ill of people like Ted Wafer, Fogen, O’ Mara, Wilson, Dunn and the like not out of hate, but because I’m human and can see what they are.

My grandfather said what your grandmother said….and often I might add. If the racists and bigots would take the time to chill out and get to know people maybe they’d actually “get it” after all, it is 2014.

      • I think it takes a lot more time and energy to hate and to be violent, than it does to walk in peace. Aren’t grandparents wonderful? Hugs, Barbara

    • I welcome all opinions and observations. I am human and therefore flawed. Life is a journey of growth. Hugs, Barbara
