Before the Mast and on The Deck of the World

Very good blog. I just found you and I invite you to visit my blog. Hugs, Barbara

FRAN WILDE

I did not wish to take a cabin passage, but rather to go before the mast and on the deck of the world, for there I could best see the moonlight amid the mountains. I do not wish to go below now.

A couple weeks ago, I found myself at a place I consider more home than the house where I grew up. In that place, there is a rocky beach and access to a large swath of the upper Chesapeake Bay.

Believe me when I say that I know how lucky I am to have that place. I do not think I would be who I am without it. I doubt sincerely that I would be here at all.

When I first came to that place, I quickly earned the nickname “Mouse.” At eight, I was very small indeed. I did not speak much, and when I did, it…

Solar Flares Disrupt Communications On Earth, Could Send Shockwave On Friday The 13th

By Colleen Curry, ABC News – “The sun has had three major solar flares on its surface in the past two days that have affected communications on Earth and could send a shockwave through Earth this Friday, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

The ‘solar events’ caused brief blackouts in high frequency communications when they struck, twice on Tuesday morning and once this morning, all between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. EDT.

Solar flares are bursts of radiation on the sun’s surface. The disturbance to Earth’s atmosphere can disrupt GPS and communications signals, according to NASA.

One of the flares created a ‘coronal mass ejection’ that actually could come into contact with Earth on Friday, according to NOAA. The ejection is essentially a huge cloud of plasma that could hit the Earth and…

Visits With Friends

I apologize for being gone for a couple of days. I took some friends on day trips .  Yesterday, we went to the Cleveland Botanical Gardens. It is one of my favorite places to visit and it a great place for kids. No matter where you live in our world, it is good to immerse yourself, your family and friends in the beauty surrounding you. Whether it is gardens, music, art or poetry readings take advantage of ways to renew your spirit. A day off to immerse yourself completely in friends, art, good food. We ended our trip in Little Italy and Chocolatinis. A martini made with chocolate. I love them. A day of laughter is always a good day for rejuvenation.  I have photographs to share with all of you. I hope you like them. Happy Summer to everyone.
