Since Grandma didn’t have much to say a hundred years ago today, I’m going to share some pictures of floral arrangements in baskets.

According to the June, 1914 issue of Ladies Home Journal:

If one can afford to have only a few receptacles for flowers, then baskets would well be chosen. Nowadays the shops show inexpensive shapes to meet every requirement, and the clever woman will not find them difficult to make.

The Monday tradition …

Monday Mellow Yellows
and
Mandarin Orange Monday

I adore music almost as much as I adore writing. Maybe because some lyrics could
easily be a poem? Or because some songs can lift me up and make me feel strong
again? I don’t know, but the fact is that music can sometimes describe my
feelings better than I can do so myself.

So, I combine them into something I call ‘Poetrics’.

Poetrics is a combination of lyrics from some of my favorite songs and poetry I write inspired by these songs.

I take the essence of the song, the meaning it has, and write a poem on that. Then I let the lyrics of the song dance through the poem.

Here you can find the Poetrics I have made so far. I hope you will enjoy them!

As Canada Day, 2014 has receded into our maple leaf memories, rising up to greet us a few days later is the 4th of July!

The “4th of July” is also known as, “Independence Day”; in 1776, the United States affirmed its independence from (then, “Great Britain”) the United Kingdom.  The thirteen colonies who were then at war with Britain, considered themselves each an independent sovereign state, and no longer part of Britain.  They formed a new nation which we now know as the United States of America.

I am so incredibly blessed to have connections in both the US and Canada.  To me, each country has its own unique and undeniably commendable features; I love both countries!

I don’t think there are too many people who can even fathom the 4th of July without fireworks! Ah, fireworks and lots of them! To celebrate this fine…
