You’re Fired!

Introducing our Congress

Introducing our Congress

Well, right here in the United States of America, land of the people, for the people, and by the people, we have experienced a slap across our collective faces. Our Congress is made up of men and women who have been duly elected to the House and Senate to protect and ensure our best interests as we see them.

The elected officials we put into office have walked out. They just got up and all went back to their homes. Congress is now closed. “Gone Fishing”.I don’t know about any of you but I am highly annoyed.

Our Founding Fathers did not make a Congress that would run away when things got tough.

Our Founding Fathers did not make a Congress that would run away when things got tough.

When was the last time you have ever heard of anyone just walking away from their jobs and not performing their job descriptions? Have you ever done that and kept your job? Well this is what the man and women we elected to the House and Senate have done.

Someone in the press corps asked President Obama why he didn’t stop them and he said.  he is not a distator, but a President. He couldn’t have the Secret Service block the doors.

Our Congress has hit a new low. They are speaking with their actions, which is stronger and truer than any words that might fall out of their selfish mouths.

I am disgusted with them and I feel we need to all speak up and let Congress know and each state has their House Representatives and Senators. Tell them to get off their bottoms and to get back to work. We pay their salaries and we are not happy. This may not be a major election year, but some Congressmen and Senators will be up for re-election in 2114.  2116 is coming and if they can not handle performing their job descriptions, they we will find true patriots and selfless Americans who will.

Grow up Congress. You are being paid big salaries, have the best health care in the country and your children go to school on our dime, while we have to struggle to put our children and grandchildren through college. You disgust me and should be ashamed of yourselves.

Why would congress give two shits about us Americans? congress passed a bill into law last year stating that congress gets paid no matter what happens to America, or no matter what programs get cut or no matter what parts of government gets shut down…..congress still gets a paycheck and benefits. So why would congress give a shit bout U.S.?

  2. Because we the people, are going to send them home in 2014. We have to become loud and verbal about this insult to the American people.

Looking forward to following your blog! Great discussion!

Don’t even get me started with these worthless, self serving Goddamn traitors.

    • Actually, please do speak up. That is what the Founding Fathers wanted when they ensured our Freedom of Speech. So join the dialog and spread your thoughts! We pay their salaries.

  5. One way of looking at this is that, when they are sitting, and “doing” their job, they are not helping the citizens anyway. All they have been doing is passing bills that are ruining the country, while lining their pockets with bribes.
Walking out might be the best thing they ever did!

    • I get your point but I feel that they are a worthless Motley Crue. We pay their salaries and they are required by law to work together to find a the countries’ problems. You don’t walk off your job because you have been given a difficult job to deal with. And they earn a lot more than the average American.I find the games and chicanery they have been doing for almost five years to be offensive and unethical. It is not the way moral men and women conduct themselves.

      • Definitely worthless! In fact worse. They should have been controlling the direction of the country towards a stable future, but instead participated in its almost certain downfall.

WHY did they walk out? Was it in a protest of some sort, or just ‘cos they couldn’t be bothered to do any more work??

    • Very good question. They left because they did not want to make the cuts to the nation’s budget that have to be made. So instead of sitting down and hammering out a compromise to take care of business, they walked out. I find that intolerable as do many Americans. This could push us deeper into recession and can even effect Europe. They work for us and we will get rid of them next election.

      • Jeff Nguyen says:

What cuts do you think need to be made?

      • The plane and sub that the military says it doesn’t want. Congress’s pay raise, to mention a few.

      • Jeff asks “what cuts”
External spending absolutely. Military a priority.
Then no propping up of bankrupt bankers. In fact ask for the taxpayers money to be returned!
Cutting funding for the support of Americans is absurd.
Not fairly taxing the big companies and high income earners is a mistake. Now THERE is a case where an Executive Order would be appropriate. Of course Obama might get himself assassinated if he did that.
What a greedy, selfish, inadequate lot of politicians.

The whole sequestration mess is unnecessary and a total sideshow and distraction just to impose austerity on us, while giving more benefits to the billionaires. I applaud idealisticrebel for this wonderful post and hope that we can put a lot more pressure on Congress, the Supreme Court, and even my much beloved President Obama long before 2014 to get some REAL change started.

The change where We The People Matter More than Corporations, Billionaires and the money from them that keep our elected “servants” acting like their slaves. America may indeed be a LOT bigger than Egypt and Spain but I think if enough of us fill our public squares, and drown the internet and other media with our outcry against austerity and the whole mindset that drives it’s implementation, then we can push change sooner than waiting for the ballot box solution.
People are drinking poisoned *flammable* water from fracking, our whole downtown is so full of homeless people, regular people are AFRAID to walk around down there-but Congress can’t be bothered with old fashioned diplomacy and hard work?

Pass this on-read it, share it, discuss it-and then let’s DO something to show that Americans are not as well programmed and asleep as the Powers That Were like to think we are.

  8. I often wonder, here in Canada, what happened to being responsible to those who elected you. A few minutes of watching Question Period in the House is enough to make you want to stand up and shout “would you all just grow up!” Things need to change, for sure.

  9. I think it is time to begin asking the question; “Why wait?”

These irresponsible actions by these irresponsible congressional members are bringing this nation to its knees. We should not tolerate these acts. It is been too many years.

I’m appalled also by Congress and tired of being held hostage so they can get their way and line their pockets with more money. Good post.

All I do is laugh at this foolishness now a days. I can’t take any politician seriously anymore. We, collectively, have become a nation divided. Sensibility and civil discourse are alien to our way of conducting business. People just flock with their chosen herds out and repeat their mantras, regardless of how irrational or out of touch they may be. What more will it take for people to just say f*** it? Who knows… Even if that time comes I doubt we, collectively, have the fortitude to come together and work it out. Heaven knows I want to be wrong but at the rate things are going, I have little hope for our once great nation.

    • I would like to recommend a book for you. It is called a Team of Rivals. It is about Lincoln and the politics of his day and the Cabinet he put together made up of his once political rivals. His political genius pretty much saved the Union.
