To the Seeker after Fame, a Warning

Together with your name and vile cunning
You’ll slip into obscurity and shame.
The Fame you crave forever will elude you—
Forsooth, she scorns her suitor’s earthly reign.

_____________

Vasyl’ Symonenko, 1935 – 1963, Ukrainian poet, journalist and dissident. He was a pioneer of the 1960s and 70s literary resistance movement (the Shestydesiatnyky) to a chauvinistic Soviet regime’s political and cultural oppression of Ukraine. His best and strongest poems were not published in his homeland, except as samvydav: single copies were typed and retyped by friends and colleagues and circulated beneath the censor’s radar. Often works of such writers were smuggled out of the country and published by the diaspora. After his untimely death, the crackdown on his samvydav poetry grew and later the suppression of his works became near total as they were deemed ‘incompatible’ with the party line…

A day outside. A bad day outside. – II (2.0, Is Back, Returns, Another day…)

adus's avatarA Blind Bird

Hello, everyone! Time for some heart to heart talk because after almost a month after the last prose-y thing I did..I have managed to come up with just one story from ‘My journey with ineptness’.
This will also be a Dimecdote (In all honesty, nothing much happened) because today I went shopping with mum. I tried everything I generally do to avoid going on such cute adventures. There was some cup-breaking involved…it got serious. That obviously did not help at all and off we went to the World of Stares and A lot more Stares.

Halloween Resources

Jackie Saulmon Ramirez's avatarParent Rap

Halloween may be one of children’s favorite holidays of the year with parents and grandparents are not be far behind! Kids certainly enjoy carved Jack-O’-Lanterns with their eerie glow. In the links below you will find: History, crafts, decorating, educational, costumes, recipes, pumpkin patters and instructions and more.

Cheap is good, free is better! It is always my endeavor to locate no-cost resources for parents but occasionally some websites will charge membership fees or subscription. Ultimately, it is the parent’s responsibility to monitor their child’s online activities.

* Hover your cursor over each link to see more information.

** If you have links to suggest for inclusion or if you find a broken link, please send a message on the Contact Info page.

Costumes should not restrict the free movement of feet, legs, arms or hands. Costumes too baggy or too tight could easily tangle or trip kids.

Cardio Nation. I think I’m Blacklisted

charlie5913's avatarBetween Two Horizons

You know who they are. And you know that secretly, you probably wish to be more like them. Who wouldn’t? Who wouldn’t wish to be part of the all- encompassing cardio nation…

It’s Monday morning. 7:55 a.m. Time to get to work. Time to walk up the mile+ hill which leads to my job. A beautiful, scenic route through trees and nature. Each Monday it’s the same… I haven’t made the walk over the two day weekend, my body has already begun to despise the hill. It’s all up hill. Partially steep. I walk briskly, admiring the trees, the sunrise to my right. The birds. And then it begins.

Same procedure as each passing day. The heartbeat which becomes just a little bit more intensified. Thump. Thump. Thump. The legs which feel they become heavier as the hill ascends, making it just a littletoo  uncomfortable to continue in the same…

Have You Ever Felt Overwhelmed?

Domestic Violence is a crime. Abusing a child is assault.

Xena's avatarWe Hold These Truths To Be Self-Evident

When things happen, and are resolved, it is not as stressful as when things happen, pile up on each other, and nothing is resolved.  Since the death of Michael Brown at the hands of Darren Wilson, things have mounted and mounted.

A Black actress who kissed her White partner in public was placed in handcuffs by the Los Angeles Police, accused of being a prostitute.

A young man in Utah was killed by cops.  Witnesses say that the cops shot him in the back.  The cops say he rushed towards them with a sword.

The media promotes that bosses get into the personal business of their employees.  I’m talking about the professional athletes with domestic problems.  I’ve withheld opinion about it because this might be another test pattern that spills over into private industry.
