Traipsing Around the Byways

I didn’t forget about the pictures. I needed a day to recover from the beauty and my friend and I went to see Through the Looking Glass. Yes, I know, it is fantasy. But it is was fun.

The trip to see Roan Mountain and the Rhododendron garden was long and worth it. And it was beautiful and  often breath-taking the entire way. We picked a 90+ degree day for our trip but it worked out fine as the higher we went, the cooler we were. At the top of the mountain we were at 6,286 feet. Mount Mitchell, the highest point in the east, is 6,684 feet. So I never broke a sweat all day.

There were so many places I wanted to stop and take shots, Amy finally said to choose shots along the road or at the mountain top. I chose the mountain top. But I did get some more good shots both up and down the mountain.

Roan mountain spans North Carolina and Tennessee so we got to see a lot of different cultures and hear a lot of different music.
